Atmore Community Hospital Announces Lifesaver Award

Atmore (AL) – Atmore Community Hospital (ACH) announced today Julie Lane, R.T. (R) ARRT – Radiology Technologist, was awarded Atmore Community Hospital’s Lifesaver Award. The Lifesaver Award is presented to employees whose actions prevent a potential life-threatening deterioration in the condition of a patient, visitor, or fellow employee.

“Julie made a potential life-saving catch for one of her patients,” stated Brad Lowery, Hospital Administrator. “Her actions led to a brain bleed being detected while performing a CT scan for a facial trauma.”

According to hospital officials, Lane contacted the radiologist, who confirmed Julie’s catch, and then requested the patient’s physician order an additional CT scan for the patient’s brain. The patient was diagnosed with a brain bleed and transferred to a stroke center for a higher level of care.

“This was a great catch and without Julie’s early detection, could have caused a delay in the patient’s care and transfer,” stated Ashley Strawbridge, Patient Safety and Employee Health Manager, “We thank Julie for providing quality patient care and quickly responding and coordinating treatment with multiple departments and doctors.”
