BREWTON, AL - Surgical Associates of South Alabama and Atmore Community Hospital are pleased to announce the surgical service of a new general surgeon to the Atmore medical community. Dr. Trace Stafford, who began practicing as a member of the Surgical Associates of South Alabama in July of 2019 will begin seeing patients in Atmore beginning March 2020.

"Dr. Stafford is a great addition to the Atmore medical community," said Suzanne McGill, Interim Administrator and Director of Nursing for Atmore Community Hospital. "We are excited to be able to compliment the surgical services currently being offered by our general surgeon, Dr. William Harris, with those of Dr. Stafford for the patients, our hospital and our community."

Dr. Stafford joined Surgical Associates of South Alabama after completing his surgical residency at the Grandview Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. Dr. Stafford completed his medical degree in osteopathic medicine from the University of West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2014.

"We are very happy we have been able to work with Surgical Associates of South Alabama to bring the surgical services of Dr. Stafford to the Atmore Community," said Chris B. Griffin, CEO for the Escambia County Healthcare Authority. "Dr. Stafford will be a great addition to our current Atmore surgical team and to our medical community."

Dr. Stafford is married to wife, Paige and they have one 10 year old daughter, Micaela, one-month old son, Duke, as well as a fur baby named Hank. Dr. Stafford specializes in general surgery but more specifically gallbladder disease, hiatal hernia, minimally invasive surgery, ventral and incisional hernia, umbilical hernia, skin cancer, melanoma, breast cancer, screening and diagnostic endoscopic procedures, as well as the surgical treatment of colon cancer. His hobbies include fitness, automotive restoration, and motorcycle racing.

Dr. Stafford will begin seeing patients at the Atmore Community Hospital's MedPlus Building, which is located directly across the street from the hospital, in March. We hope that everyone will welcome him to our community and help him feel at home.
