Director of Nursing - Administration/Nursing
Directs the implementation of nursing policies and procedures, nursing standards and a nurse staffing plan. Establishes guidelines for the delivery of nursing care, treatment and services. Directs the overall operations of more than one function or department and/or has a multi-business-unit focus to provide defined patient care services which meet ACH's standards of quality, efficiency and desired outcomes.
This position works under the hospital administrator. The position works one regular shift, 5 days per week but is responsible for resolving issues occurring on all shifts, 7 days per week. Incumbents may be subject to hours over 40 per week and callback.
Principal Accountabilities:
Job Accountability #1 Coordinates the development and management of specific financial plans which ensure successful operations within allocated resources.
Job Accountability #2 Directs the process of selection, orientation, training, evaluation and scheduling in order to provide qualified staff to ensure specified successful departmental outcomes.
Job Accountability #3 Initiates and guides the development of the systems and procedures which are necessary to support daily operations, assures compliance with all regulatory standards and policies and procedures, and promotes the Atmore Community Hospital mission.
Job Accountability #4 Assesses the age appropriate physical, psychosocial, educational, and environmental needs of patients/family in a systematic manner.
Job Accountability #5 Develops and manages departmental plans consistent with Atmore Community Hospital's plan to ensure achievement of desired outcomes.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
Knowledge/Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing school AND B.S. degree in nursing. Internal candidates promoted into this job who do not have a B.S. degree must obtain same within 36 months of date of promotion.
Considerable knowledge of clinical practice
Working knowledge of management principles
Proven leadership skills
Working knowledge of Director level responsibilities in a similar clinical environment
Licensure, Registration, Certification Current RN licensure in the State of Alabama.
