Patient Safety/Employee Health Nurse - Nursing
Full-time Patient Safety/Employee Health Nurse will perform surveillance, prevention, and control of infections in patients of all ages.
Manages Infection Control Program (ICP) and activities in conjunction with local, state, federal rules/recommendations/regulations.
Develops and implements policy and procedure with review/revision annually and as required in infection control practices. Acts as liaison between medical staff, department heads, housekeeping, maintenance, and dietary as well as others concerned directly or indirectly with patient care.
Coordinates reporting of communicable diseases to public health.
Provides patient education to all new staff on principles of infectious diseases.
Manages employee health screening and immunization programs.
Monitors/investigates infectious diseases, potentially harmful exposures, and outbreaks among personnel and reports to appropriate agencies.
Reports Infection statistics as directed.
Other duties, as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of infection prevention/control practices.
Ability to carry out written and oral instructions and to exercise judgement in the application of those practices.
Ability to work cooperatively with people and to maintain an objective attitude.
Ability to exercise tact and initiative.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Education/Experience
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
Licensed to practice as an RN in the state.
Ability to virtually obtain Certificate of Completion for Epi 101 and Epi 102 through the APIC (Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology) organization, within first year of hire.
Ability to obtain Certification in Infection Control (CIC)
