    OR Scrub Technician - PRN - Surgery
    PRN Scrub Tech

    Position Purpose and Scope of Responsibility:
    Performs a variety of technical duties to assist in preparing and caring for perioperative patients. Prepares patient skin for surgery in accordance with ACH’s standards. Positions patients according to type of surgery. Maintains aseptic techniques. Cleans, prepares, stores, distributes, and maintains various supplies, equipment and instruments to assure efficiency operation and patient safety in the operating room.
    Incumbent is responsible for various shifts and may be subject to hours over 40 per week and call back as required. This position is under general supervision of the manager.

    Principal Accountabilities:

    Job Accountability #1 Considers the age appropriate physical, psychosocial, educational, and environmental needs of patient/family in a systematic manner, as appropriate.
    Job Accountability #2 Ensures availability of supplies, equipment and instruments by coordinating their control, maintenance, cleaning, storage and distribution, per case.
    Job Accountability #3 Ensures adherence to environmental, safety and infection control standards during the performance of duties.

    Provides efficient management of set up, supplies, instruments and implants by maintaining inventory/requisition/maintenance documentation as required.
    Job Accountability #5 Performs a variety of technical duties to assist in preparing and caring for perioperative patients; positions patients according to type of surgery.
    Job Accountability #6 Performs scrub role during surgical procedures including performing tissue retraction as directed; identifies and cares for biological specimens.
    Job Accountability #7
    Executes prompt and appropriate care in complex, unexpected, unpredictable situations. Independently prioritizes competing tasks and communicates outcomes appropriately.

    Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

    Minimum Qualifications
    Good communications skills
    Record keeping skills sufficient to manage required documentation
    Working knowledge of OR instruments, equipment and procedures
    Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology with obtained certification within 6 months of hire.
    BLS certification thru American Heart Association
